ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk melihat kemampuan menulis eksposisi di kalangan
siswa kelas X SMA masih rendah. Rendahnya kemampuan menulis eksposisi disebabkan
faktor metode pembelajaran dan minat menulis. Oleh karena itu, tujuan penelitian ini
adalah untuk mengetahui: (1) perbedaan kemampuan menulis eksposisi antara siswa yang
diajar dengan metode pembelajaran experiential learning dan kelompok siswa yang diajar
dengan metode pembelajaran ekspositori; (2) perbedaan kemampuan menulis antara siswa
yang memiliki minat menulis tinggi dan siswa yang memiliki minat menulis rendah; (3)
interaksi antara metode pembelajaran, dan minat menulis siswa dalam mempengaruhi
kemampuan menulis eksposisi.
Metode penelitian yang digunakan dengan desain faktorial 2X2. Populasi dalam
penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X SMA Negeri Se- Kabupaten Kulonprogo;
sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa SMAN 1 Pengasih sebagai kelas eksperimen dan siswa
SMAN 2 Lendah sebagai kelas kontrol. Pengambilan sampel dengan teknik two stage
random sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah tes dan nontes..
Teknik analisis data menggunakan Analisis Varian Dua Jalur.
Hasil penelitian: (1) Ada perbedaan kemampuan menulis eksposisi antara siswa yang
diajar dengan metode pembelajaran experiential learning dan siswa yang diajar dengan
metode pembelajaran ekspositori. Hal tersebut didukung oleh analisis statistik inferensial
pada perolehan hasil Fh sebesar 37,15>Ft sebesar 4,01 dengan taraf signifikansi 5%. (2)
Ada perbedaan kemampuan menulis antara siswa yang memiliki minat menulis tinggi dan
siswa yang memiliki minat menulis rendah. Terbukti skor rata-rata masing-masing 79,77
dan 69,77 Hal tersebut didukung oleh analisis statistik inferensial pada perolehan hasil Fh
sebesar 48,71>Ft sebesar 4,01 dengan taraf signifikansi 5%. (3) Terdapat interaksi antara
metode pembelajaran, dan minat menulis siswa dalam mempengaruhi kemampuan menulis
eksposisi. Terlihat pada perolehan hasil Fh sebesar 9,43>Ft sebesar 4,01.

ABSTRACT
The aim of this research was to study factors influencing the low expository writing
skill of 10th grade senior high school students. The low expository writing skill was caused
by two factors. They are learning method and writing interest. Therefore, the goals of this
research were to reveal: (1) the difference of expository writing skill between students
which were taught with experiential learning method and students which were taught with
expository learning method; (2) writing skill difference between students who have high
writing interest and students with low writing interest; (3) interaction between learning
method, and students’ writing interest in influencing expository writing skill.
This research used 2X2 factorial design. The population of this research was all 10th
grade students of Kulonprogo Regency; the samples of this research were one Pengasih
Senior High School students as the experiment group and two Lendah Senior High School
students as the control group. The samples were taken with two-stage random sampling
technique. The collecting data techniques used by the researcher were test and notes. The
data analysis technique used was Two Ways Analysis of Variance (ANOVA).
The results of this research were: (1) there was difference of expository writing skill
between students who were taught using experiential learning method and students who
were taught using expository learning method. This result s supported by an inferential
statistical analysis at Fh acquisition outcome in the amount of 37.15>Ft with 4.01 with 5%
level of significance. (2) There was difference of writing skill between students who have
high writing interest and students who have low writing interest. It can be seen in the
average score of each students with 79.77 and 6.77. This is supported with an inferential
statistical analysis at acquisition result in the amount of 48.71>Ft with 4.01 with 5% level
of significance. (3) There was an interaction between learning method and students writing
interest in influencing students’ expository writing skill. It can be seen in the Fh acquisition
outcome in the amount of 9.43>Ft with 4.01.
