ABSTRAK
Penelitian bertujuan untuk meningkatkan literasi membaca siswa melalui penerapan model problem based learning di kelas X MIA 1 SMAN 1 Boyolali tahun pelajaran 2014/2015.
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas (Classroom Action Research) yang dilakukan dalam 2 siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri dari perencanaan, tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah 33 siswa kelas X MIA 1 SMAN 1 Boyolali tahun pelajaran 2014/2015. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui, tes, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan literasi membaca siswa kelas X MIA 1 SMAN 1 Boyolali tahun pelajaran 2014/2015 melalui penerapan model problem based learning. Peningkatan Literasi Membaca ditunjukkan dengan meningkatnya capaian rata-rata persentase aspek literasi membaca siswa dari 53,73% pada pra siklus menjadi 66,72% pada siklus I, selanjutnya meningkat menjadi 73,50% pada siklus II. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada peningkatan literasi membaca siswa dalam pembelajaran biologi melalui penerapan model problem based learning di kelas X MIA 1 SMAN 1 Boyolali tahun pelajaran 2014/2015.

ABSTRACT
The research objective was to improve student’s reading literacy through the use of problem based learning model at grade X MIA 1 SMAN 1 Boyolali Academic Year 2014/2015.
The research is considered as Classroom Action Research that performed within 2 cycles and consists of 4 phases namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subject of research is students of X MIA 1 SMAN 1 Boyolali academic year 2014/2015. Data are obtained by observation, test, interview, and documentation. The obtained data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive technique. The research uses triangulation methods.
The result showed that the application of problem based learning model increasing student’s reading literacy in every cycle. The average percentage increased from 53,73% in pre-cycle up to 66,72% in first cycle, and ended up by 73,50% at the final cycle. The conclusion of this research describes there was student’s reading literacy improvement in biology through the application of problem based learning model at grade X MIA 1 SMAN 1 Boyolali academic year 2014/2015.
