ABSTRAKPenelitian yang berjudul “Diskursus Kepemimpinan dalam Film TheKing’s Speech Karya Tom Hooper” ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengetahui,memahami, dan mendeskripsikan kejelasan diskursus kepemimpinan Raja GeorgeVI yang menginspirasi Tom Hooper dalam membuat film The King’s Speech, (2)mengetahui, memahami, dan mendeskripsikan bagaimana konstruksi diskursuskepemimpinan Raja George VI dalam film The King’s Speech karya Tom Hooper,dan (3) mengetahui, memahami, dan mendeskripsikan bagaimana implikasidiskursus kepemimpinan Raja George VI dalam film The King’s Speech karyaTom Hooper terhadap kepemimpinan Inggris pada umumnya.Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam wilayah ilmu Kajian Budaya denganmetode analisis data kualitatif dan teknik analisis data secara deskriptif daninterpretatif yang menggunakan pendekatan hermeneutik. Penelitian inimenggunakan metode tekstual dengan studi dokumen dan studi kepustakaansebagai metode pengumpulan data. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini,yaitu teori wacana Michel Foucault sebagai teori utama dengan dibantu teorisemiotika komunikasi visual Umberto EcoTerdapat tiga hasil penelitian pada penelitian ini, yaitu pertama, sebabterjadinya diskursus kepemimpinan Raja George VI yang menginspirasi TomHooper dalam membuat film The King’s Speech menghasilkan terciptanyahegemoni. Kedua, proses konstruksi diskursus kepemimpinan Raja George VIdalam film The King’s Speech karya Tom Hooper adalah dari ideal menjadihumanis. The theory thatused in this research, namely Michel Foucault’s discourse theory and UmbertoEco’s visual communication semiotics theory.There are three of the research results on this research, namely first, thecause of the discourse of leadership King George VI inspiring Tom Hooper inmake The King’s Speech film resulting the creation of hegemony. Second, theconstruction of the discourse of leadership King George VI in The King’s Speechfilm by Tom Hooper is from idealist into humanism.
