ABSTRACT
Background: Post-placental IUD (Intra Uterine Device) is an IUD that placed 10 minutes after delivery of the placenta. Post-placental IUD is expected to reduce maternal mortality in Indonesia, however, it is still not widely used. Socialization of post-placental IUD is considered important to increase the motivation to use the post-placental IUD. The aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between the socialization of post-placental IUD with the motivation to use a post-placental IUD in pregnant women in the third trimester in the region of Health Primary Center in Rendang, Karangasem, Bali.
Methods: This study was a quasi-experimental study with non-randomized pretest posttest control group design. The research’s sample were 40 pregnant women in the third trimester in the region of Health Primary Center in Rendang, Karangasem, Bali chosen by purposive sampling. Samples classified into the experimental group and the control group.The researcher gave socialization of post-placental IUD to the experimental group as an intervention.Data collected through questionnaires related to motivation, then the data analyzed with Chi-Square test and McNemar test through SPSS.
Result: There was a relation between post-placental IUD socialization and motivation using post-placental IUD where the Chi-Square test obtained significant value of 0.001.
Conclusion:There is a significant relation between socialization of post-placental IUD and motivation using post-placental IUD in pregnant women in the third trimester.
