ABSTRACT
The aims of this research are: (1) to know using media on English subject at SMA N 1 Tanjung Raya Mesuji; (2) to know development of card media with NHT model on English subject at SMA N 1 Tanjung Raya Mesuji; (3) which one is more effective using card media with NHT model on English subject to increase students’ learning motivation of eleventh grade at SMA N 1 Tanjung Raya Mesuji.
The study was conducted at SMA N 1 Tanjung Raya Mesuji as a subject eleventh grade IPA.2 as experiment group, IPS.1 as control groups and IPA.1 as tryout group. This type of research wasa research and developments adopted by Thiagarajan’s Four-D models, this procedure of this research are: (1) define; (2) design; (3) develop; (4) disseminate. Data collection Technique using descriptive statistical analysis and t test.
The result of this study indicate that: (1) validation of materials experts are in the very good category with the average of 4.38; (2) validation of media expert are in the very good category with the average of 4.35; (3) the preliminary fields test and main field test are in very good category with a mean of 4.62; (4) the calculation results of t-test decision on the operational field test are H0 is accepted, which means that the value of the average pretest 72.83 and the posttest 74.17 is not the same test class. Effectiveness of the test results using t test formula DK= {t|t<-1.960 or t>1.960} and Tobs=1.970 ? DK, so it was concluded that both groups had the different feat. Groups of student who using media card and NHT model have an average class value of 77.33 and the control group had an average class value of 72.50. In the other hand, media card was increase of learning motivation. In experiment group it means value of the average 106.37 and control group have 92.00. The last observation, researcher to disseminate same products in schools of Mesuji region, result of these disseminate 4.40.
