ABSTRAK
Fabrikasi dan karakterisasi core fiber optik tellurite telah berhasil dilakukan. Komposisi core adalah 60TeO2-34ZnO-2Bi2O3-4Na2O. Fabrikasidilakukan melalui 2 tahap, pembuatan preform dan pembuatan core. Pembuatan preform menggunakan metode melt quenching danpembuatan core menggunakan fiberdrawingtower. Dengan metode melt quenching, bahan digerus dan dilelehkan pada suhu furnace 850 ?C kemudian dicetak berbentuk kotak dan silinder. Berdasarkan pengukuran kaca berbentuk kotak diperoleh nilai indeks bias (1,80 ± 0,04) serta transmisi yang paling tinggi pada 610-730 nm. Preform silinderdifabrikasi menggunakan fiber drawing tower. Fabrikasi core dilakukan dengan cara memanaskan preform pada suhu 385?C. Preform yang telah lunak pada suhu 385 ?C, akan jatuh karena gaya gravitasi dan penekan di bagian atas preform. Variasi massa penekan adalah 597,4, 1178,4, dan 1959,4 gram. Kualitas core dinyatakan dengan besaran rugi-rugi optis dan keseragaman diameter core. Massa penekan yang menghasilkan core paling baik adalah 1959,4 gram, dengan diameter core (0,09836 ±0,00859) mm dan rugi-rugi (-0,044 ± -0,013) dB/cm.

ABSTRACT
Fabrication and characterization of tellurite core optical fiber has been successfully performed. The composition of the core is 60TeO2-34ZnO-2Bi2O3-4Na2O. Fabrication is done through two phases, preform manufacture and core manufacture. Preform manufacture using melt quenching methods and core manufacture using fiber drawing tower. By melt quenching methods, the matterial have grinded and melted on the 850 ?C of temperature furnace then formed to box and cylinder of shapes. Based from measured, box of glass have (1,80 ± 0,04) of refractive index and have most transmition on the 610-730 nm. Cylinder preform fabricated by fiber drawing tower. Fabrication of core doing by heat up preform on the 385 ?C of temperature. Preform have softed on the 385 ?C, will be down because gravitional force, and suppresor in the top of preform. The variation of suppressor mass is 597,4, 1178,4, dan 1959,4 gram. The expression of quality core is optical loss and homogenous of diameter core. The best suppressor mass is 1959,4 gram, have (0,09836 ± 0,00859) mm of diameter core and (-0,044 ± -0,013) dB/cm of optical loss.
