A Correlational Study on Habit in Watching English Movie, Self-Efficacy, and Writing Skill of the Tenth Grade Studentsof SMK PGRI Wonoasri in the Academic Year of 2015/2016. EnglishEducation Department. Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Sebelas MaretUniversity. Surakarta. 2016. The objectives of the study are to determine the correlation between (1)habit in watching English movie and writing skill; (2) self-efficacy and writingskill; and (3) habit in watching English movie, self-efficacy, and writing skill; andto predict the contribution of habit in watching English movie and self-efficacytoward writing skill. This study used correlational study. It was carried out in April 2016 atSMK PGRI Wonoasri. The population of this study was all the tenth gradestudents of SMK PGRI Wonoasri which consists of nine classes. The total numberof the students was 260 students. The sample for this study was 22 students takenby cluster random sampling technique. The instruments for collecting the datawere questionnaire and test. Questionnaire was used to collect the data of habit inwatching English movie and self-efficacy, while the test was used to collect thedata of writing skill. The techniques used to analyze the data were Simple andMultiple Linear Regression and Correlation. The results of the data analysis show that at the level of significance α =0.05 (1) there is a positive correlation between habit in watching English movieand students’ writing skill (r x1y = 0.14807 > rvi t = 1.72); (2) there is a positivecorrelation between self-efficacy and students’ writing skill (rx2y = 0.3042 > rt =1.72); (3) there is a positive correlation between habit in watching English movie,self-efficacy, and students’ writing skill (Ry12 = 0.8858 and Fo = 73.72 > Ft =3.49). According to the result of the study, it is found that there is a positivecorrelation between habit in watching English movie and students’ writing skill;there is a positive correlation between self-efficacy and students’ writing skill; andthere is a positive correlation between habit in watching English movie, selfefficacysimultaneously and students’ writing skill of the tenth grade students ofSMK PGRI Wonoasri in the academic year of 2015/2016. The result of the study shows that habit in watching English movie andself-efficacy are predictors which give a contribution to students’ writing skill asmany as 88.58%. So, both habit in watching English movie and self-efficacy areone of the important factors that should be considered in improving students’writing skill. Keywords: correlation, habit in watching English movie, self-efficacy, writing skill
