This final project report was written based on the job training at PublicRelations Division of Sukoharjo Local Government on April, 13th 2015 to May,13th, 2015. The objectives of this final project are to describe press release as thecommunication tool in Public Relations Division of Sukoharjo Local Governmentand the problems and the solutions that I encountered during the job training.During the job training in Public Relations Division of Sukoharjo LocalGovernment, the activities related to Public Relations field were makingnewspapers clipping about Sukoharjo’s trend issues, making press release,participating in governmental agenda, participating in telecommunication codesub-division.Press release is one of the communication tools that is often used bySukoharjo Local Government to deliver information to the public. Press release isimportant in Public Relations because the Public Relations officers can use it topuss on the information about the event that will be held in Sukoharjo. PublicRelations Division of Sukoharjo Local Government also makes the press releaseto disseminate the information. The content of the press release had to be able toanswer the questions of "what", "when", "where", "who", "why" and "howThere were 3 problems during the job training at Public Relations Divisionof Sukoharjo Local Government. The first problem was the Public RelationsDivision of Sukoharjo Local Government found difficulties to share theinformation because some journalists preferred to look for the information andissues in Surakarta City rather than Sukoharjo. The solution is the head of PublicRelations Division of Sukoharjo Local Government tackled it by creating awriting competition for the journalists every year. The second problem was thenewspaper’s editors or journalists were late to publish the press release to thenewspaper. The solution is Public Relations Division should create JournalistCommunication Forum in Sukoharjo. And the third problem is the lack ofequipment for collecting the materials to write the press release. The equipment isa recorder that is useful for collecting the materials for writing press release whenan important event is held. The solution is using a hand phone.
