Abstract
Gun Violence has become one of crucial problems in US. The guarantee from the Second Amendment gave the authority for the citizen to bear the arms. However, in fact, gun was used in wrong way which causes deaths for the citizen, especially for Black Community. They dominate the number of perpetrator and victim regarding the gun violence issues in US. This research focuses on the theme of gun violence happened in Chicago since it is considered as one of the highest number of gun violence. The data were taken from “Barbershop”: The Next Cut (2016) movie. It is scrutinized by using Barthes Semiotic theory which focuses on the interpretation of the way the movie gives the criticism to Chicago gun violence based on Black community perspective. The criticism is in the form of satire, therefore, semiotic is used in order to understand the meaning beneath the conedy or satire. The result shows that, this movie highlighted the criticism in several issues: 1.) Lack of gun control, 2.) Violation over Second Amendment, and 3.) Government failure in protecting Black community.
