ABSTRACT

This final report is written based on the internship activities done from January 28 to February 28, 2017 at Tourism Information Center (TIC) Jepara. The objectives of this final report are to describe (1) the main activity during the internship program, (2) the difficulties during the internship program especially in translating texts, (3) and the solutions to solve the difficulties.

The internship activities are divided into two parts, main activity and additional activities. The main activity during the internship program was translating web contents of TIC’s website from Indonesian into English. The additional activities were helping the staffs of Kartini Museum as a tour guide and exploring some tourist attractions in Jepara. In translating the texts, the data were collected by observing the tourist attractions, asking the source texts from the head of TIC, and having discussion with TIC’s staffs. There were some problems during translating the texts such as, difficulties in dealing with the meaning of Javanese words, difficulties in dealing with complex sentences and difficulties in finding parallel texts. The problems could be solved by discussing them with my partner. Dictionaries and internet also helped me in finding the meaning of the difficult words.
