Abstrak

This research is aimed to reveal whether: (1) the students who are taught by using communicative game have better achievement in speaking fluency than the students who are taught by using 4/3/2 technique; (2) The students who are taught by using communicative game have better improvement in speaking fluency than the students who are taught by using 4/3/2 technique; and (3) The students who are taught by using communicative game have better learning interest than the students who are taught by using 4/3/2 technique; and (4) the students who are taught by using communicative game act more actively than the students who are taught by using 4/3/2 technique.
This experimental research was conducted at the tenth grade of MAN 1 Ponorogo in the academic year of 2015/2016. From ten classes, the researcher took two classes as the sample, namely experimental class which was taught by using Communicative Game and control class which was taught by using 4/32/ technique. To find out the sample, a cluster random sampling was implemented. To gain the data, two instruments were used namely performance test for speaking fluency test, students’ participation and learning interest questionnaire. The data were, then, analyzed by using t-test. Before conducting the t-test, pre-requisite test namely normality and homogeneity were conducted.
There are some research findings which can be taken: (1) The students who are taught by using communicative game have better achievement in speaking fluency than the students who are taught by using 4/3/2 technique; (2) The students who are taught by using communicative game have better improvement in speaking fluency than the students who are taught by using 4/3/2 technique; and (3) The students who are taught by using communicative game have better learning interest than the students who are taught by using 4/3/2 technique; and (4) The students who are taught by using communicative game act more actively to participate in the class than the students who are taught by using 4/3/2 technique.
Based on the results of this research, it implies that Communicative game is one of teaching method that is considered as effective method to be applied in speaking class. In this case, the communicative game is more effective than the 4/3/2 technique in building students’ speaking fluency and learning interest.
