The problems discussed in this study are: (1) What is the novel structure of "Pulung Gantung Tali Pati" by Iman Budhi Santosa according to Robert Stanton's structural theory which includes the facts of the story (plot, character, setting), themes and means of storytelling ( title, point of view, style, and tone, symbolism, irony), (2) How is the main character's preventive attitude towards suicides in the novel "Pulung Gantung Tali Pati" by Iman Budhi Santosa, (3) What is the relevance of suicide in the novel "Pulung Gantung Tali Pati" by Iman Budhi Santosa and the Gunung Kidul community.
The purpose of this study is (1) Describe the structural elements of the novel "Pulung Gantung Tali Pati" by Iman Budhi Santosa according to Robert Stanton's structural theory which includes the facts of the story (plot, character, setting), themes and means of story (title , point of view, style, and tone, symbolism, irony), (2) Describe the main character's preventive attitude towards suicide in the novel  "Pulung  Gantung  Tali  Pati"  by Iman  Budhi  Santosa,  (3)  Describe the relevance of suicides in novel "Pulung Gantung Tali Pati" by Iman Budhi Santosa with the Gunung Kidul community.
This research includes literature research that is descriptive qualitative. The data source used is the novel "Pulung Gantung Tali Pati" by Iman Budhi Santosa. the data used in this study are the contens of the text of the novel  "Pulung Gantung Tali Pati" by Iman Budhi Santosa and namely information obtained from three informants. the interviews data is used for source triangulation, aiming to strengthen the main data. Data collection uses content analysis, interview techniques, and sampling techniques, and data validity. As for using data analysis techniques, which include structural analysis and sociological analysis. steps in data   analysis   include   data   reduction,   data   presentation,   verification   and conclusion.
The results of this study are: (1) The structural elements contained in the novel "Pulung Gantung Tali Pati" by Iman Budhi Santosa are related to each other as story builders who do not. The author analyzes using Robert Staton's structural   theory,   tries   to   dismantle   each   story's   content,   and   produces continuation data in analyzing using Emile Durkheim's self-resistant social theory. (2) Based on the attitude described by the author through the main character, the author can give the message that every action is based on a clean and supportive heart for good, then the way will be opened from God to facilitate licensing to the

end, and can explain the main character's preventive attitude towards a case of self-infringement in the novel "Pulung Gantung Tali Pati" by Iman Budhi Santosa which discusses socialization efforts for the community by providing knowledge about norms and values, so that norms are not interrupted, which are related to oneself. Preventive attitude is a decision that is worthy of being used for attitude in  social  discussions  that  exist  in  the  community,  by  carrying  out  positive contradictions  and  without  settlement,  the  social  problems  will  erode  by themselves. (3) The author obtains information from the resource person and makes  comparative  data  with  the  contents  of  the  text  of  the  novel  "Pulung Gantung Tali Pati" by Iman Budhi Santosa, and produces data that concludes the relevance of the opinion of the sources with the results of text analysis by the author. This relevance is the cause and effect that arises in Gunung Kidul in the novel "Pulung Gantung Tali Pati"  by Iman Budhi Santosa with the opinions expressed by three sources, including economic, health, and social issues.
