This research was conducted to analyze types of flouting maxim employed bythe characters in a movie entitled “Game of Thrones season 1”. It was alsoconducted to find out the characters’ intensions of flouting maxims in theconversations inside “Game of thrones season 1” movies.This research is based on a Pragmatics approach, focusing on flouting maxims asthe data. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. It employs purposivesampling technique. The data of this research were dialogues containing floutingmaxims that were uttered by the characters in the movie. They were classifiedbased on Grice’s Theory of Flouting Maxims.The researcher found that firstly, there are six kinds of flouting maxims utteredby the characters in the movie, they are flouting maxim of Quantity, floutingmaxim of Quality, flouting maxim of Relevance, overlaps of maxims of Qualityand Quantity, Quantity and Relevance, Quality and Relevance.  Secondly, the researcher found that there are some characters intentions offlouting maxim in the conversations inside the movie. The character intentionsflout the maxim of quantity are to hide the information, to refuse, to satire, toforbid something, to show agreement, to show disagreement, to showuncertainly, to convince, and to give information. The character intentions floutthe maxim of quality is to show uncertainly. The character intentions flout themaxim of relevance are to shift the topic, to show anger, to show disagreement,to show uncertainly, to convince, and to give information.
