This research focuses on two review texts written by the same text producer. It is aimed to discover the language style of the same writer. The analyzed texts are written by Aushaz Irfan, a Pakistani contributor of Teen Ink magazine.Considered as a descriptive qualitative research, this research describes the register and genre employed in the two analyzed texts. Data of this research is discursive, and both texts will be compared based on the similarities and differences of its language features.Using Systemic Functional Linguistics as an approach, analysis was done by examining both the generic structure and the metafunctions of each text. The description of data led to the interpretation of field, tenor, and mode.From the analysis, it can be concluded that the writer uses the same structure in writing the review texts. Although both texts are appropriate in the medium, different choice of words is employed for each text, depending on the topic of the reviewed book. Moreover, the writer keeps the equal status, positive assessment, and involvement of readers in both texts.Keyword: register, genre, review text, magazine, systemic functional linguistics
