This research was conducted to investigate the disagreement strategies that occur in Me Before You movie based on the gender of the characters. The aims of this research are to find out the disagreement strategies used by the characters, to figure out the ways of each character in employ the strategy, and to reveal the reason of each character in chooses the strategy.

This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The data were taken from the dialogs of the movie that contain disagreement strategy. It is analyzed using the theory by Muntigl and Turnbull (1998) and Chen (2006).

The results show that there are five disagreement strategies in the movie, such as no disagreement, irrelevancy claims, contradiction, counterclaims, and challenges. There are 8 ways of the characters in employ each strategy in the movie, such as avoiding disagreement, stating contradict statement, agreeing the interlocutor statement, and so on. And there are 12 reasons why the characters choose to use each strategy, they are respecting the interlocutor, doubting the interlocutor decision, keeping the good relationship with the interlocutor, and many more.
