ABSTRACT


    The focus of this research is to find out the 12th grade senior high school students’needs related to reading materials for taking English National Examination (ENE) based on teachers’ perspective. The background in conducting this research mainly because of two things. The first one is the importance of curriculum evaluation behind the needs analysis. The  second one is the importance of the certain preparation for strengthening English material to face the incoming English National Examination (ENE). Both of these backgrounds are equally important for students and teachers at once.
Theproblems of this study are: what are the teachers’ perspective ofthe 12th grade senior high school students’ needs related toreading materials for taking the English National Examination (ENE). The secondproblem is what kinds of effort do teachers make to fulfil those needs. All of these questions are framed within the scope of teacher's perspective. This research already debriefed 4 English teachers who teach grade 12. They are from MGMP Bahasa Inggris SMA or English Teacher Forum. They were involved in filling out the questionnaire & also interview where the results were used as the main data in this study.
The final findings in this study include the fact that: according to the teacher's perspective, the students’ most important needsrelated toreading materials in the ENEare the mastery skills of effective reading as well as understanding the grammatical, function, main idea, and meaning of text; which has subsequently been followed up by the teacher by implementing several reading learning strategies in the classroom such as by interpreting, guessing, & analyzing text grammatically in varied reading style, in order to get the understanding on the meaning of the text.
