ABSTRACT
The objective of this report is to explain all of the activities during the internship program in Balai Bahasa Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta that focus on the translating activities especially the translation of Literary and Linguistics Articles.
I conducted the internship program in a group of four consisting Ignatius Bagas Wicaksono, Joshua Levi Setiawan Putra, Ridho Ramadhan Widodo, and me. The internship program was conducted on January 13th, 2020 until March 13th, 2020. The activities were divided into two parts, the main activity and secondary activity. The main activity consists of translation activity of literary and linguistics articles. Then, the secondary activity consists of translation activity of various articles, visitation, and annual anniversary celebration of Sanggar Sastra Jawa Yogyakarta.
This final report explains translation processes to get a good quality translation, which the message is able to be delivered properly from the source language to the target language, based on the theory stated by Ma’mur (2004, 438). The types of translation explained in this report are pragmatic and ethnographic translation. While pragmatic translation focuses on transferring message to the reader, the ethnographic translation focuses on transferring culture from the source language to target language. In order to achieve an equivalent translation, both translation types must have equivalent words, phrases, or clauses.
