Abstrak : AMBAR ARRY PURWANTI. 2004. Kualitas Air Tanah di Sekitar Aliran Sungai Pepe Surakarta. JURUSAN BIOLOGI. FMIPA UNS Surakarta. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kualitas air tanah pada sumur-sumur penduduk di sekitar aliran Sungai Pepe, mengetahui kualitas air Sungai Pepe dan mengetahui hubungan antara jarak sumur dengan Sungai Pepe terhadap kualitas air sumur penduduk di sekitarnya. Latar belakang dari penelitian ini adalah adanya kegiatan industri dan aktivitas rumah tangga yang menghasilkan limbah cair yang apabila langsung dibuang ke sungai akan berdampak negatif terhadap kualitas lingkungan perairan sungai. Limbah cair yang dibuang ke sungai dapat meresap ke dalam sumber air tanah, dan memungkinkan terjadinya penurunan kualitas air tanah yang dikonsumsi penduduk sekitarnya. Maka perlu diadakan pengujian kualitas air tanah. Sejalan dengan permasalahan dan tujuan penelitian, maka dilakukan pengambilan sampel air sumur di sisi kiri dan sisi kanan Sungai Pepe. Titik-titik sampel tersebut melewati Kelurahan Gilingan, Kestalan, Kampung Baru dan Sangkrah. Selain itu, dilakukan pula pengambilan sampel air Sungai Pepe. Parameter fisika, kimia dan biologi yang diukur adalah suhu, warna, bau, BOD, COD, DO, pH, Cu, Cd, dan bakteri koliform. Dari hasil pemeriksaan sampel, menunjukkan bahwa air Sungai Pepe dilihat dari parameter fisika, kimia, dan biologi telah mengalami penurunan kualitas, apabila dibandingkan dengan baku mutu air penerima menurut Surat Keputusan Gubernur Jawa Tengah No. 660.1/26/1990, kecuali untuk parameter Cu dan Cd yang tidak terdeteksi. Untuk air sumur penduduk, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kualitasnya cukup baik berdasarkan parameter fisika dan kimia masih dalam ambang batas yang diijinkan dalam baku mutu menurut Surat Keputusan Menteri Kesehatan No.907/MENKES/SK/VII/2002 tentang Syarat-Syarat dan Pengawasan Kualitas Air Minum, kecuali untuk bakteri koliform jumlahnya melebihi ambang batas. Hasil uji regresi menunjukkan bahwa kualitas air sungai Pepe tidak mempengaruhi air sumur penduduk di sekitarnya. DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGY. FMIPA UNS. This research aimed at knowing the quality of ground water in commoner’s wells alongside the riverbank of Pepe River, Surakarta, and understanding the relation of the distance between the wells and the Pepe River with the wells’ water quality. The background of this research was the existence of industrial and household activities which produced liquid waste that if then discarded directly without previous treatment process, would surely have negative impact on the water environment quality of the river. The waste polluted water of the river might then intruded into the ground water supply, and, probably, degraded ground water quality which would actually be consumed by communes living alongside the riverbank. Therefore, it was important to assess the ground water quality. Adhered with the aim of the research, well’s water sampling was conducted on the left and right side of the determined river stations. These sampling point was situated at Kelurahan Gilingan, Kestalan, Kampung Baru, and Sangkrah. The sampling of river’s water was then also conducted. The taken water samples were then measured using physical, chemical, and biological parameters which are BOD, COD, DO, pH, Cu, Cd, and coliform bacteria. Based on the evaluation of Pepe River’s water sample, according to The Water Quality Standard administered in The Regulation of The Governor of Central Java No. 660.1/26/1990, the Pepe River’s water quality had been degraded, except for the parameters of Cu and Cd which were not detected. As for the quality of commoners’ wells. It can be concluded that the wells’ water quality was relatively fine. The conclusion was based on both physical and chemical parameters which were still below the maximum level permitted in the Regulation of The Minister of Health No. 907/MENKES/SK/VII/2002 which regulates the terms, conditions, and the supervising of drinking water quality, except for the parameter of coliform bacteria which level was way beyond the permitted standard. The regresion test showed that the water quality of Pepe River had not had the influence on the water quality of the surrounding commoners’ well.
