A textbook is the main instrument for the teachers and students in teaching learning process. It has a significant role in the importance of learning English, This content analysis research is conducted tocheck whether the 12-grader vocational high school English textbook entitled“Communication Builder, English Textbook for Vocational High School” is fulfilling the criteria of good English textbook based on critical thinking perspective.
The researcher used descriptive qualitative method, while the process of collecting data is by reading the textbook, selecting the reading passages and the exercises in each chapter to be analyzed as the representative of the whole textbook, and collecting data of the textbook from each chapter. Meanwhile in analyzing the data, the researcher used the materials of the textbook those are the reading passages and the exercises in each chapter as the data, analyzed and noted the data to compare with the indicators of critical thinking, and concluded the analyzed data.
The result of the research shows that the textbook is in accordance with the indicators of critical thinking perspective because it presented suitable material and activities especially for students.
