School through the application Solfegio method.                                       .

This study  is a Classroom Action Research  (CAR). The expem!'ent  were

conducted  in three  cycles,   with  each  cycle  consist~ng of  three.  meetings.  E~ch cycle consists of four  phases,  there were planning,  tmpiememation,  observauon. and  reflection.  The subjects  were  students  in fifth  grade  of  Meng~w~   State Elementary School totaling 35 students. Data collected included quantitative and qualitative data.  The source data came from  stud~nts, o_bserv~rs,  and res_earc~ers. Data  collection  techniques form  tests,  observations,  interviews,  questionnatres, and anecdotal  records.   The validity of the data using triangulation  techniques, instrument triangulation,   and triangulation  of sources. Data analysis techniques used  for   quantitative   data   are   descriptive   comparative   statistical   analysis techniques,   while qualitative  data were analyzed  using analysis  techniques  that include three stages,  there are data reduction,  data presentation,  and verification.

The  results  of  the  research  showed  that  through  the  implementation

Solfegio  method can  improve the ability to read music students. Ability  to read music students at pretest still very low, the students have not been able to read the notation in low-high tones.  The average value of a class of students the ability to read music at the beginning of the test condition  is 52. Improved  ability to read music students after the implementation  of the action cycle I although have not been maximal.  The average value of the class of test results read music rose to

65.33   in   cycle   l    Students'   ability   to   read   music   is   increasing   in   the implementation cycle II and cycle Ill  The average value of the class of test results obtained  to read music students  is 67.67 in cycle IL and increased to  75.67   in cycle Ill  Students can read music with the high-low tone accordingly.

The  conclusions  of  this  research  were:  (])  learning  with  appropriate

Solfegio  method  applied  in the  class  V Mengkowo  beginning  with  elementary school  teachers do with students'  questions  and answers  related  to elements  of music  featured   in  the  song  model,  then  the  teacher  gives   information  and guidance  on  learning  objectives  will  be  implemented,  and further   warm  up consisting  of breathing exercises, exercises solmisasi,  and articulation exercises, followed   by learning  to clap  rhythmically,  practice  sight  singing,  ear  training exercises,   and  the  last practice  sight  reading,  and  teachers  with  students  to discuss the student's ability to reflect in reading music notation song model, and at the end of learning conduct an evaluation  to assess the ability of students to
