<xml> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> </xml><![endif]-->The purposes of this research were: (]) to describe the _steps O; ~arn_in~H~io methods that can improve the ability to read mustc~l nota~tontn;t.J•:us:J:~tenglwwo State Elementary School, and (2) to describe an increase in1{;,e ability to read musical notation in fifth grade of Mengkowo State ElementarySchool through the application Solfegio method. .This study is a Classroom Action Research (CAR). The expem!'ent wereconducted in three cycles, with each cycle consist~ng of three. meetings. E~ch cycle consists of four phases, there were planning, tmpiememation, observauon. and reflection. The subjects were students in fifth grade of Meng~w~ State Elementary School totaling 35 students. Data collected included quantitative and qualitative data. The source data came from stud~nts, o_bserv~rs, and res_earc~ers. Data collection techniques form tests, observations, interviews, questionnatres, and anecdotal records. The validity of the data using triangulation techniques, instrument triangulation, and triangulation of sources. Data analysis techniques used for quantitative data are descriptive comparative statistical analysis techniques, while qualitative data were analyzed using analysis techniques that include three stages, there are data reduction, data presentation, and verification.The results of the research showed that through the implementationSolfegio method can improve the ability to read music students. Ability to read music students at pretest still very low, the students have not been able to read the notation in low-high tones. The average value of a class of students the ability to read music at the beginning of the test condition is 52. Improved ability to read music students after the implementation of the action cycle I although have not been maximal. The average value of the class of test results read music rose to65.33 in cycle l Students' ability to read music is increasing in the implementation cycle II and cycle Ill The average value of the class of test results obtained to read music students is 67.67 in cycle IL and increased to 75.67 in cycle Ill Students can read music with the high-low tone accordingly.The conclusions of this research were: (]) learning with appropriateSolfegio method applied in the class V Mengkowo beginning with elementary school teachers do with students' questions and answers related to elements of music featured in the song model, then the teacher gives information and guidance on learning objectives will be implemented, and further warm up consisting of breathing exercises, exercises solmisasi, and articulation exercises, followed by learning to clap rhythmically, practice sight singing, ear training exercises, and the last practice sight reading, and teachers with students to discuss the student's ability to reflect in reading music notation song model, and at the end of learning conduct an evaluation to assess the ability of students to x read music notation. (2) The application of Solfegio method can improve the ability to read musical notation fifth grade elementary school students Mengkowo.
