The research aims to investigate the learning strategies used by good and poor language learners in e-learning class during The Covid-19 pandemic. The purposes of this research were (1) to determine the types of learning strategies used by good language learners in e-learning class environment, (2) to determine the types of learning strategies used by poor language learners in e-learning class environment, (3) to describe the similarities of learning strategies used by good and poor language learners in e-learning class environment (4) to describe the differences of learning strategies used by good and poor language learners in e-learning class environment (5) to describe factors that affect the preference of learning strategies used by good and poor language learners in e-learning class environment. This research applied a qualitative method approach. Since this was a case study, a semi-structured interview and open-ended questionnaire were employed in collecting data. The research was conducted in one of Senior High School, Jembers, East Java, in the academic year 2019/2020. Six good learners and six poor learners were purposively chosen as the participants of this research. The result revealed that good and poor language learners in e-learning class environment employed memory, cognitive, compensation, metacognitive, affective, and social strategies. Similarities were found in the use of learning strategies. Almost half of the good and poor learners use social strategy. The research also revealed the differences of learning strategies used by good and poor learners in e-learning class. The dominant strategies of good and poor learners were different.  Most good learners in e-learning class used metacognitive strategies and compensation strategy. However, most poor learners in e-learning class used affective strategies. They also had different dominant strategy in each group of strategy. The last, it revealed that good learners’ learning strategy preferences were affected by seven factors such as belief, degree of awareness, language proficiency, learning environment, learning style, motivation, and purpose of the learning language. However, the learning strategy preferences of poor learners were also affected by those factors except the purpose of the learning language.
