This research studies Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard: The Sword of Summer novel by Rick Riordan. The objectives are to describe the representation of Samirah al-Abbas, an American Muslim character in Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard: The Sword of Summer novel, how the representation of Samirah al-Abbas reflects the discrimination of Muslims in the United States of America post 9/11, and the intention of Rick Riordan in presenting a Muslim character in the novel.

The findings of this research are first, Samirah al-Abbas underwent discriminations and was accused as a terrorist by her peers in middle school because of her Muslim identity in the novel, second, there were cases of Muslims facing discriminations in the United States of America post 9/11; and third, the author Rick Riordan got his inspirations in writing Samirah al-Abbas from his experiences as a teacher with Muslim students. The intention of Rick Riordan is to counter the negative stereotypes of Muslims post 9/11 by introducing and presenting the point of view of a Muslim in U.S. as a main protagonist in his novel.
