Background. Albumin is a marker of nutritional inflammation and mortality. Chronic inflammation, as indicated by increased concentrations of proinflammatory cytokines, such as C-Reactive Protein (CRP), has been reported to be high in patients with chronic renal failure. Channa striata extract is one source of protein that can increase albumin levels and contains anti-inflammatory effects.

Objective. To determine the effect of channa striata extract on serum albumin and Hs-CRP levels in chronic kidney failure patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis.

Methods. Experimental research using the Randomized Controlled Trial method with a sample of 20 CKD patients with CAPD who came to the internal medicine polyclinic of RSUD Dr. Moewardi. Research subjects were examined for pre and post serum albumin and Hs-CRP in the control group and the treatment group who were given channa striata extract 3x1 capsules for 21 days. The statistical test used the analysis of the mean difference between the two groups.

Result. The results showed a significant increase in serum albumin levels in the treatment group after being given Channa striata extract by 6.7% with p value = 0.001 (p <0 xss=removed>

Conclusion. Giving channa striata extract 3x1 for 21 days can increase serum albumin and Hs-CRP levels in CKD patients with CAPD.
