This study discusses the use of charf jarr  translation techniques and its impact on the occurrence of form and meaning shifts of jarr majr?r in the ‘Umdatul Achk?m book. The purpose of this study is to describe the translation techniques that used to translate charf jarr and its impact on the occurrence of form and meaning shifts of jarr majr?r in the ‘Umdatul Achk?m book.

There are two theories used in this research. The first theory from Molina and Albir (2002) to discuss translation techniques. Second is the shift theory from Simatupang (1999) to discuss shifts in form and meaning. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method which includes data collection, data analysis, and results reports. Data collection was carried out non-interactively. Data analysis used the method of Miles and Huberman (1994). Meanwhile, the results report  presented in narrative form.

Data analysis in this study divided into two parts, the first part is data analysis which is done by identifying and verifying data in the form of charf jarr based on the Molina and Albir translation technique (2002). The second part is an identification of the impact that results in a shift in the use of each translation technique in the first analysis using Simatupang (1999) theory.

The results of research that has been done carried out are as follows. First, out of 172 data found 8 translation techniques used to translate charf jarr. Them are 74 data calque techniques, 9 data of linguistic amplification, 19 data of established equivalent, 6 data of description, 18 data of adaptation, 29 data of linguistic compression, 15 data of reduction, 2 data of compensation. Second, form shift only occurs in linguistic compression techniques with 29 data and reduction with 15 data. There are 5 techniques that have an impact on the occurrence of meaning shifts. Linguistic amplification technique with 9 data, description technique with 6 data, adaptation technique with 18 data, linguistic compression technique with 29 data, reduction technique with 15 data.
