This research was aimed at studying the implementation of PowerPoint as a medium for instruction in a Vocational High School. The subject of the research was twelfth-grade students of a Vocational High School in Surakarta and English teacher. This study used interviews, observation, and collecting documents as data collection techniques. For the data analysis technique, this study used data reduction, data display, and conclusion and drawing verification. The research showed that the process of developing PowerPoint consists of 2 major steps containing preparation and slide design. The preparation step involved students’ need analysis and selecting materials. Meanwhile, the slide design was combining PowerPoint features with the materials. During the implementation of PowerPoint in the class, the teacher used the slides in some teaching activities such as brainstorming, illustrating, and demonstrating. The students showed some responses towards the implementation of PowerPoint in the class. The first response of the students related to the use of PowerPoint is silent. The students were silent when the teacher asked about a topic that they did not understand. The other response is actively responding to PowerPoint material. The students were engaged in the lesson when they were participating in pairs or groups.
