The english teaching and learning activities for the third grade students in SD Negeri Blangu 1

× ABSTRACT 2008. This final project is written based on the job training done by the writer as an English teacher in SD N Blangu I. The purposes are to know and to understand the English teaching and learning activities in SD N Blangu I, including the difficulties faced by the students and by the teacher during the English teaching and learning process, and to find out the solution for those difficulties. During the job training, the writer took some activities; such as observing the condition of class and teaching the English class. In the class observation, the writer observed the condition of the class and the condition of the students. To make the English teaching and learning run well, the writer used some steps. The steps were brainstorming, explanation, exercises and ending the lesson. In the English teaching and learning activities there were four basic skills related to the materials, they were: speaking skill, writing skill, listening skill, and reading skill. There were some difficulties faced by the students and by the teacher. The difficulties of the students were the English lesson is something new for the students; students’ speaking skill is still low, and the difficulties in used the proper grammar. Meanwhile, the teacher’s difficulties include limited teaching aids, students’ noise and passive students. The writer also presented the solutions to solve the students’ difficulties, such as: teacher motivated the students in learning English, familiarized the English language to the students, and explained the material clearly and systematically. The solution to solve the teacher’s difficulties include making the teaching aids, giving the assignment as a punishment to students’ noise, and giving more activities to the students, such as reading a text together, practicing the dialog, playing games and singing songs related to the material.
