Abstrak : ABSTRACT 2008. The purposes of this study are describing how the noun clauses in the novel The Summons by John Grisham are translated into Indonesian and finding out the level of accuracy and readability of translation. It is a descriptive method using the technique of collecting, classifying the data and drawing conclusion based on data analysis. There are two kinds of data, namely the primary data and the secondary data. The primary data are taken from the noun clauses of novel The Summons and its translation Panggilan. The secondary data are taken from the result of the questionnaires of accuracy completed by three raters who have knowledge and skill in translation, and from the result of the questionnaires of readability completed by fifteen respondents that are university students. The average mean of the data is 1.25 where the mean is between 1.10 – 2.50. It is considered that the translation is less accurate. Besides, based on the questionnaires of readability, 87 data (61.27%) are considered as extremely readable data, 51 data (35.96%) are considered as readable data, 4 data (2.82%) are considered as not readable data, and there is no data considered as extremely not readable data. The average mean of the data is 1.61 where the mean is between 1.61 – 2.40. It is concluded that the translation is readable for the target readers.
