English teaching and learning activities for students of year 4 of SD Plus Al Firdaus Surakarta

× ABSTRACT 2008. This final project report was written based on the job training done by the writer as an English teacher in SD Plus Al Firdaus Surakarta. The purposes were to describe the English teaching and learning activities, including the problems faced by the students and the teacher during the English teaching and learning activities, and to find out the solution for those problems. During the job training, the writer took some activities such as observation in the class and taught the English lesson. In the class observation, the writer observed the condition of the class included the students’ condition. In the English teaching and learning activities, the writer used some procedures in order to make the English teaching and learning activities run well. The procedures of the English teaching and learning activities covered greeting, warming up, explaining the material, exercises, assessment and ending the lesson. There were some problems faced both by the students and the teacher. The problems of the students were pronouncing the words, writing English and wrong opinion about English that was English as a complicated lesson. Meanwhile, the problems of the teacher were the big class, handing the students, and the uncooperative students. The writer also presented the solutions to solve the problems such as the teacher taught to pronounce the words frequently, gave some exercises, motivated the students to learn English more diligently, explained the material by using loudly voice and moving around, and gave more activities. Moreover, the teacher reminded the students to pay attention to the lesson.
