This final report was written based on the internship activities performed at Pro Translasi (CV. Translasi Peradaban), which started from January 18th, 2020 until March 19th, 2021. This internship report aims at elaborating the details of the activities performed during the internship program, particularly translating medical applications, and the issues encountered within, as well as the solutions applied to overcome the issues.
The translation of medical applications I handle in my internship program consist of Bolus Calculator and Insulin Calculator, which are sent in Microsoft Excel file format. Translating these medical applications include several stages, which are understanding the message, transferring the message, and editing the translation. In completing the translation tasks, I encountered several challenges such as unfamiliar terms, difficult words, the lack of terminology management, and unexpected technical problems, like video conference issues and poor internet connection in bad weather.
To overcome these challenges, I took some strategies, including researching difficult terms and words in the recommended references and dictionaries, asking the supervisor related to the operation of CAT Tools and watching YouTube videos for more guidance related to the CAT Tools and confirming about the technical issues to internship staff and anticipating slow internet connection by using personal Wi-Fi to prevent any further issues.
