The objectives of this study are: (1) to describe the implementation of Online Collaborative Learning in Critical Listening Class; (2) to find out the benefits in implementing Online Collaborative Learning in Critical Listening Class; and (3) to investigate the challenges faced by the students and lecturer in the process of implementation.
The data of this case study are collected through observation, interview, and documentation. The sources of this data are: (1) research participants that consist of the lecturer and the students of Critical Listening class; (2) events which are all learning activities done by the lecturer and the students in the teaching and learning process using Online Collaborative Learning; and (3) documents that consist of the record of students’ discussion, activities, and reports on WhatsApp group, schoology, google docs, google slides, and online meeting in the form of screenshot pictures. The techniques used to analyze the data cover data condensation, data display, and conclusion.
The result of the research shows that: (1) the implementation of Online Collaborative Learning in Critical Listening Class is done in three stages: Pre- listening stage, While-listening stage, and Post-listening stage; (2) there are five benefits obtained by the students and two benefits obtained by the lecturer in the implementation of Online Collaborative Learning in Critical Listening Class; (3) There are three challenges faced by the students and two challenges faced by the lecturer in the implementation of Online Collaborative Learning in Critical Listening Class.
