The objectives of this research are to investigate the text types that are found in user assistance “login troubleshooting” on Instagram website, to determine what techniques are used by the translator(s) in translating user assistance on Instagram website, and to identify the accuracy, acceptability, and reliability of the user assistance translation on Instagram website.
This research used a descriptive qualitative research method. Its data were sourced from documents and informants. Those data were collected through content analysis and focus group discussion. The documents consisted of user assistance of login troubleshooting from Instagram and its translation while the informants were raters who validated and evaluated the data for the translation quality in terms of accuracy, acceptability, and readability.
The research findings show that there are two types of text found in 5 Texts of User Assistance “Login Troubleshooting in Instagram Website, they are informative and operative. Texts 1 to 4, are operative, while Text 5 is considered as informative. The techniques found are established equivalence 641 frequencies (76.77%), followed by reduction in 57 frequencies (6.83), pure borrowing with 54 frequencies (6.47%), modulation with 37 frequencies (4.43%), naturalized borrowing with 19 frequencies (2.28%), amplification explicitation with 11 frequencies (1.32%), transposition with 9 frequencies (1.08%), literal translation with 4 frequencies (0.48%), addition with 2 frequencies (0.24%), and discursive creation with only 1 frequency (0.12%). The total score of the three aspects of translation quality is 2.71. The score is considered high, it means that the translation of the user assistance text is accurate, acceptable, and readable.
