The object of this research is user interface texts on Shopee e-commerce application. This research is conducted to analyze the translation techniques used by the translators in the translation of user interface texts found in Shopee application from English into Indonesian and to assess the translation quality in terms of accuracy, acceptability, and readability.   

This research is a descriptive qualitative research method. The sources of data in this research are documents and informants. The researcher uses purposive sampling technique to collect the data. Data were gathered using content analysis and focus group discussion. The documents are user interface texts found in Shopee application and the translations. Meanwhile, the informants are raters who assisted to assess the translation quality in terms of accuracy, acceptability, and readability.

The research findings show that 134 user interface texts were found in the Shopee application. The researcher found that the translator used 12 kinds of translation techniques found in this study to translate the user interface texts. They are established equivalent, borrowing (pure borrowing and naturalized borrowing), modulation, amplification (explicitation and addition), reduction, transposition, particularization, generalization, deletion and the new translation technique of SL particularization – pure borrowing.

Based on the Translation Quality Assessment, the translation of user interface texts in Shopee application are considered accurate, as signified by the accuracy score of 2.93; acceptable as indicated by the acceptability score of 2.71; and readable as shown by the readability score of 2.91.
