Abigael Natali Prisma Hasiyono, 2022, Producing Translation of Legal Texts and Questionnaires Using CAT Tools at Pro Translasi. English Diploma Program, Vocational School, Universitas Sebelas Maret.

This final report was written based on my internship activity at Pro Translasi, Malang, started from February 28, 2022 to April 22, 2022. The objectives of this final report are 1) to present the internship activities including the main activity and the additional activity, 2) to explain the working steps of the assignments, and 3) to elaborate the problems and solutions that I faced during the internship. My main internship activities were translating and subtitling. I translated various texts, including legal texts, questionnaires, video game texts, abstracts, and manual texts. I used CAT tools named Smartcat to translate the texts and an application software named Aegisub to create the subtitles. My additional internship activities were rewriting and writing articles. I rewrote legal documents from .jpg format to .doc format. I also wrote articles in Indonesian. The main assignments could be done by implementing the translation process stated by Nida and Taber. There are three steps to translate the texts, they are analysing process, transferring process, and restructuring process. During the internship activities, I faced problems such as difficult terms, dictions selection to make the translation acceptable, and format and culture adjustments from source text into target text. To overcome the problems, I implemented some strategies such as researching difficult terminologies and words by reading a lot of online sources of journals, books, and online dictionaries, asking friends and supervisors to help me do the assignments, and using one of CAT Tools named Smartcat.
