Resti Mailani. 2022, Translating Music Descriptions on Album Covers from Indonesian into English at Lokananta Records, English Diploma Program, Vocational School, Universitas Sebelas Maret.

The purpose of this report is to explain the activities during the internship at Lokananta Records which focuses on translation of music album cover descriptions for main projects and translation of collection descriptions as additional project. In carrying out the translation process, I was assisted by online dictionaries and SmartCat. The process of translating description of music album covers uses three steps of translating by Nida & Taber: (1) analyzing, (2) transferring, and (3) restructuring. To translate descriptions of music album covers from Indonesian into English, I used six translation techniques of Newmark (1988) and Molina & Albir (2022). They are: established equivalent, descriptive, parenthesis, adaptation, communicative and literal translation. In this final project report, I strongly agree that the uses of translation techniques by Newmark (1988) and Molina & Albir (2022) were very effective to solve problems in translation. The obstacles I encountered during the internship were unfamiliar words, bad structure of source text, outdated spelling and proverbs. The strategies I used to solve the problems were looking up for unfamiliar                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        meaning on online dictionaries, recognized writing standards in our PUEBI (Indonesian standard spelling), restructuring and searching on the internet for equivalent meaning of proverbs.
