Background: The high prevalence of HIV and AIDS in Central Java prompted researcher to visit one of the PLWHA communities, namely the KDS Solo Plus Surakarta. Researcher observed that there were PLWHA who still experienced sadness and worry because they did not receive recognition, positive evaluations, were less valued, and received less assistance. From this phenomenon, this study aimed to determine whether there was a relationship between Social Support and Psychological Well-Being in PLWHA.

Method: A cross-sectional study was held with a sample of 50 people living with HIV in KDS Solo Plus Surakarta that fit within the inclusion and exclusion criteria. This study chose Social Support as the independent variable and Psychological Well-Being as the dependent variable. The Social Support variable was measured using the Indonesian version of The Medical Outcomes Study Social Support Survey (MOS-SSS) questionnaire. Meanwhile, the Psychological Well-Being variable was measured using the Indonesian version of the Ryff Psychological Well-Being Scale questionnaire. Data analysis techniques that was used for this study was bivariate analysis with Spearman correlation test on SPSS.

Result: The results of the study obtained p = 0.001 with a correlation coefficient of 0.456 which indicated a fairly strong positive relationship between the Social Support variable and the Psychological Well-Being variable. The direction of the fairly strong positive relationship meant that the higher the Social Support received, the higher the Psychological Well-Being perceived.

Conclusion: There was a fairly strong positive relationship, namely the higher the social support received, the higher the psychological well-being perceived in People Living With HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in the Peer Support Group (PSG) Solo Plus Surakarta.
