ABSTRACT Nowadays, there are lots of buildings infrastructure are damage caused by several factors such as strength decreased, acid attack, etc. The damage needs to be repaired using material in the form of polymer modified mortar. Polymer modified mortar is an improved mortar with the addition of polymers and other additive substances. This research develops repair mortar with the addition of bonding agents and Dugrid OS. In this research, OSDugrid is a polymer brand of cement additive which is produced by Dugrid so it will be easier to pronounce it as OSDugrid. Other added bonding agents are applied as the surface treatments. The addition of those two polymers affect on the adhesion of the repair mortar towards the concrete substrate. The aims of this research is to determine the effect of bonding agents addition and OSDugrid on polymer modified mortar towards the value of adhesion strength with the variations of bonding agents. In the experiment of this research, a prism-shaped object with dimension was 10 cm length x 10 cm height x 40 cm width and a cylinder-shaped with the dimension was 15 cm high x 30 cm diameter were used. Each of tested objects is varied with the addition of bonding agents and OSDugrid. The bonding agent variation test items are shown with the codes of NN, NBA 1:1, NBA 1:1,5, and NBA 1:1,75. OSDugrid variation test objects are shown with the codes of P 1:1 N, P 1:1.5 N, and P 1:2 N is for test objects with the addition of OSDugrid without bonding agents. The tested object with the addition of OSDugrid was combined with bonding agents are shown with the codes of P 1:1 N BA, P 1:1.5 N BA, P 1:2 N BA. All tested objects will be tested using slant shear test and splitting tensile test to find the value of the adhesion strength and the occurred mode of failure. The results of the test obtained that the addition of bonding agents increased the adhesion strength by 42% in the slant shear test and 41% in the splitting tensile test for repair mortar with the addition of 1:1 bonding agents (NBA 1:1) compared to normal mortar (NN). The addition of OSDugrid significantly improved the adhesion strength both with slant shear test and splitting tensile test by 100% compared to repair mortar without OSDugrid (test object with NN code). However, the addition of OSDugrid at a ratio of 1:1 - 1:2 (P 1:1 N – P 1:2 N) showed difference in binding strength that occurred less than 9%. This insignificant difference also applied to polymer modified mortar which applied to concrete surfaces with increased bonding agents of 8.5%. So, it can be concluded that the addition of bonding agents and acrylic copolymer OSDugrid-contained increases the adhesion strength of mortar repair. The failure mode occurred in all tested objects are failure on its connection.
