This research was conducted to find out the four types of flouting maxims. There are flouting maxim quality, flouting maxim quantity, flouting maxim manner, and flouting maxim relation, which are used in the conversation by the characters of "Peaky Blinders" series, episode one, season one. The objectives of this study were to find out the types of flouting maxim, to analyze the meaning of the implicatures, and explains the social contexts (power, distance, and rank of imposition) that have been carried out by each character in their conversation.

This research belongs to a qualitative research which is the meaning must be built thoroughly based on the context, using pragmatics approach. The data is all conversations containing flouting maxim committed by the characters in TV series entitled “Peaky Blinders”, first episode of season one.  There are 27 conversations which contain flouting maxims.

The result show that the characters in “Peaky Blinders” series use all four types of flouting maxims. Six reasons are also found in characters’ conversations that contain flouting maxims: to refuse something, avoid questions, hide something, provides information, to convince and to clarify something. But not all of these reasons are used in each stage. The characters most flout the maxims of relation because the characters tend to use irrelevant answers to the interlocutor's statements.
