ABSTRACT

Currently, there are still a few educational institutions that open energy-related classes. Facilities and infrastructure in conventional laboratories require high costs. Some Vocational High Schools (SMK) lack supporting equipment in conventional laboratories. Learning in SMK is still theoretical, this is supported by the lack of adequate laboratories. Complete aids are needed to improve learning abilities. Virtual Laboratory (VL) Gasification is an e-learning medium on the topic of biomass as a renewable energy that can help improve students' learning abilities. VL as a learning support tool supports the process of delivering material more easily and efficiently.

This study aims to provide alternative learning support tools that are more relevant to renewable energy learning in SMK. The development of learning media was carried out for students of class X SMK. A qualitative method with a case study approach was chosen to analyze the VL Gasification of the phenomenon of student learning abilities using the development of a 4-D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The data shows that VL Gasification is very feasible and effective in supporting renewable energy learning. This research can be a reference for developing a renewable energy curriculum in the future.
