The Covid-19 pandemic has had an impact on the economy of all business lines, including the airline sector. In an effort to increase efficiency, several airlines in Indonesia have cut wages for workers under the pretext of force majeure due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The purpose of this study is to analyze 1) to analyze whether the Covid-19 pandemic can be used as the basis for force majeure so that airlines can cut wages and 2) to analyze legal protection for wage cuts made by companies under the pretext of force majeure. The research method is using normative juridical research that is descriptive in nature, using two types of data, namely primary and secondary data. Data - data obtained by conducting document studies, then analyzed by qualitative analysis. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the Covid-19 pandemic in several laws and regulations including force majeure is strengthened by the Presidential Decree No. 12/2020 which stipulates the Covid-19 pandemic as a non-natural disaster so that several airlines can cut wages in their efforts company efficiency. Legal protection for wage cuts that occur during the Covid-19 pandemic is regulated in the Employment Creation and Manpower Act Number 2 of 2021 concerning Wages, namely giving the authority to companies to determine the range of wage cuts and prohibiting employers from cutting wages beyond the minimum wage, if the entrepreneur is unable to pay. wages can then apply for a suspension in accordance with Ministerial Decree No. 231 of 2003. Legal protection is made to achieve justice so that the rights and obligations between companies and workers become balanced amid the economic crush experienced by the company.
