Tawangmangu, as a horticultural production center, including shallots, faces challenges due to the presence of the parasitic stem and bulb nematode Ditylenchus dipsaci, which can reduce crop quality and yield. This study was conducted to evaluate the nematode infestation levels and the factors influencing them in the region. This research was conducted in a survey in Tawangmangu Subdistrict, Karanganyar Regency, Central Java from April-December 2023. The research methodology involved selecting 30 locations with a minimum area of 400 m² and crops nearing harvest. The observations involved disease intensity, nematode population density, and land characteristics such as cropping patterns, elevation, and fertilization. The results showed that nematode populations tended to be higher in land with mulching, high potassium content, and clayey soil texture, although this was not always consistent. Elevation and mulching application did not have a significant effect on the populations of soil and tuber nematodes. Mustard increased the population of soil and tuber nematodes, while spring onions reduced it. Planting tomatoes and chili peppers before shallots had a significant effect on the soil nematode population, while available phosphorus content reduced the nematode population. Soil texture did not significantly affect the nematode population. The average disease intensity was 16.44 + 17.90%, with a range of 5%-28.33%, and all sample lands had already reached the damage threshold.
