Food demand in Indonesia continues to increase in line with population growth, requiring increased rice production as the main food source. The limited rice field area has prompted the government to optimize land use through the Rice Planting Index (IP) 400 program, which is a system of planting rice four times a year without expanding the land area. However, its implementation has the potential to cause innovation consequences if not managed optimally. The IP 400 program has been implemented in Sukoharjo Regency since 2021 due to its high productivity and adequate technical irrigation. Therefore, this study aims to: (1) describe the dissemination aspects of the IP 400 rice program innovation in Sukoharjo Regency, (2) describe farmers' responses to information about the IP 400 rice program, (3) analyze the application of IP 400 rice cultivation by farmers, (4) analyze the level of consequences of the IP 400 rice program innovation, and (5) describe farmers' sustainability plans in adopting the IP 400 rice innovation in Sukoharjo Regency. The basic research method is descriptive quantitative. The research location was determined using purposive sampling in three subdistricts, namely Mojolaban Subdistrict, Polokarto Subdistrict, and Weru Subdistrict. The respondent sampling method used in this study was multistage random sampling involving a total of 72 farmer respondents who had adopted the IP 400 program. The types of data used included primary and secondary data. Data collection was carried out through interviews, observation, surveys, recording, and documentation. Data analysis used descriptive statistical analysis. The results of the study show that 1) the dissemination process of the IP400 rice program in Sukoharjo Regency was effective, relying on field instructors and the Agriculture Office as the main sources of information, which were easily accessible and repeatedly accepted by farmers. 2) Farmers' response to IP400 information was relatively high, as demonstrated by the participation of all farmers in socialization and group discussions, although not all farmers actively sought additional information independently. 3) Farmers have implemented IP400 rice cultivation, but the level of compliance with technical guidelines still varies due to limitations in seeds, irrigation, and planting schedule adjustments. 4) The IP400 program has resulted in the desired innovation of increased planting intensity and annual production, as well as undesired consequences such as increased labor requirements, dependence on technological inputs, and environmental pressures. 5) The sustainability of IP400 adoption shows variation, with some farmers willing to continue independently or with government support, while others choose to stop due to technical and economic constraints and long-term concerns.
