This research discusses the typology of peri urban areas, a case study in Grogol Sub-district, Sukoharjo Regency. The general objective is to determine the characteristics of peri urban areas and the typology of peri urban areas in Grogol Sub-district. The availability of land in urban areas has a fixed nature that is inversely proportional to the increasing population. Urban development is growing rapidly, pushing the peripheral areas to be affected, which is called the peri urban area. The Peri Urban Area is a dynamic area with a variety of transition zones between villages and cities. The development of peri urban areas as a transition zone from rural to urban nature is able to provide different characteristics in each region. This research uses a quantitative descriptive method by describing the real conditions of phenomena in the field through parameter analysis of agricultural land area, population density level, and agricultural livelihoods. The results showed that the typology of peri urban areas in Grogol Sub-district showed that out of a total of 14 villages, there were 11 villages with City Frame Zone, 2 villages with Village City Frame Zone, and 1 village with City Village Frame Zone. This shows a pattern that follows the development of Surakarta City where the closer it is, it will show its urban characteristics and bring the influence of urban development in the future, and vice versa.
