Mung beans
were classified as drought-tolerant crops. An appropriate irrigation is
essential for optimal mung bean growth. There has been a drop in mung bean prductivity
in Indonesia, caused by soil fertility loss and changing climate conditions. The
aim of the study was to obtain the best combination of watering frequency and
organic fertilizer treatment on the growth and yield of mung beans. The
research location was at the Experimental Laboratory of the Faculty of
Agriculture, Sebelas Maret University Surakarta in Jumantono, Karanganyar,
Central Java. Soil analysis was conducted at the Yogyakarta Agricultural
Instrument Standardization Agency Laboratory. Drying and yield calculations
were conducted at the Ecology, Management, and Crop Production Laboratory of
Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta. The research was conducted for 5 months in
September 2024 - February 2025. The method used was a two-factor and 8-level
Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) with factorial design treatment and three
replications. The first factor was the frequency of watering once every a day,
two days, three days and four days from field capacity. The second factor was
organic fertilizer dose (0, 10, 20, and 30 tons/ ha). The parameters observed
were height, number of leaves, number of nodia, leaf area, fresh weight, dry
weight, number of pods, number of seeds per pod, number of seeds per plant, 100
seed weight, and seed weight per plant. The data were analyzed using ANOVA (Analyses
of Variance) at 95% significance level, and when significant differences were
found, further analysis was carried out using the DMRT (Duncan Multiple Random
Test) at a 95% significance level. The results showed that the combination of
watering once every 3 days and a fertilizer dose of 10 tons/ha increased leaf
area compared to other treatments. The frequency of watering every 3 days was
able to increase mung bean yield compared to every 4 days. A dose of organic
fertilizer of 10 tons/ha increased the growth and yield of mung beans compared
to the control treatment.
