×This research aimed to know the effect of concentrate substitution with elephant yam meal to the ration on carcass percentage of male New Zealand White rabbits. This research was held in Gondang, Garjo RT 03/IX Joho, Mojolaban, Sukoharjo during eight weeks started at July 23th until September 16th 2009. This research used 20 males of New Zealand White rabbits with average body weight 1144 ± 72,82 grams. This research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) one way classification, with four treatments and five replications and each replication used one rabbit. The ration was given consisted of forages (native grasses), concentrate (15 % layer concentrate / CP 124, 50 % Zea mays and 35 % rice brand) with ratio 60 : 40 percents. The treatment was the substitution of concentrate with elephant yam. The treatments were P0 : 60 % forage + 40 % concentrate (100 % Concentrate Formula (CF) + 0 % elephant yam meal), P1 : 60 % forage + 40 % concentrate (96,25 % CF + 3,75 % elephant yam meal), P2 : 60 % forage + 40 % concentrate (92,5 % CF + 7,5 % elephant yam meal) and P3 : 60 % forage + 40 % concentrate (88,75 % CF + 11,25 % elephant yam meal). The parameters observed were slaughter weight, carcass weight and carcass percentage.
The results of this research showed that the average of P0, P1, P2 and P3 for slaughter weight of male NZW rabbits are 1728,00; 1685,00; 1669,33 and 1655,33 grams per head, carcass weight are 826,33; 801,00; 787,00 and 780,00 grams per head, percentage carcass are 47,81; 47,52; 47,14 and 47,12 percent.
The conclusion of this research that there is no effect on slaughter weight, carcass weight and carcass percentage on half concentrate substitution with elephant yam meal ration until the level 11,25 percent, on male New Zealand White rabbits.
