This research analyses the content of the English textbook entitled “Bright 2: An English Textbook for Junior High School Students”, focusing on (1) the compatibility of scientific approach implementation based on the 2013 Curriculum, and (2) the compatibility of the textbook exercises with the steps of scientific approach. This a content analysis research. The writer takes four chapters as the samples (out of 16 chapters) and 109 activities (out of 285 activities). The technique of collecting the sample is purposive sampling. The technique of data analysing consists of data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The findings reveal that the scientific approach, which consists of observing, questioning, experimenting, associating, and communicating, are implemented in the textbook. However, not all of the steps are found in each activity. Following the low number of the textbook exercises applies scientific approach in sampling chapters, the writer concludes that the teacher should reconsider its use in the English classroom.
