The final report discusses my two-month internship activities at Pro Translasi, Malang. During the internship program, I was involved in one main activity, namely translating an online video game text. While translating the game text, I applied the translation model proposed by Nida & Taber (1969), which consists of three stages: analyzing, transferring, and restructuring. The analysis stage involves reading the source text thoroughly and understanding the function of each element in the text where I categorized the text into five types, namely characters’ utterances, mission name, location names, characters names, and button text. The transfer stage involves transferring meaning from the source language to the target language. In this stage, the communication style, usage context, and function of each text section are carefully considered. Characters’ utterances require expressive and communication style, location names and characters names require lexical accuracy and contextual relevance. And in the restructuring stage, I improved the translation to make it more natural to the target audience by changing the negative phrase into positive ones to easily understand for the readers, replacing conjunction inter-sentence (e.g., “tapi” to “namun”) to conform to grammatical rules, and removing suffix “-kan” to comply with the character limit set by the game developer. Besides working on a translation project, I was also involved in an additional activity, i.e. organizing a company webinar entitled Seni Menerjemahkan: Antara Teori dan Praktik. Through this internship, I gained valuable knowledge and professional experience in the field of game translation and I learned how to work responsibly, manage deadlines, and communicate with internal staff. This internship helped me strengthen my translation skills and better prepare myself to enter the professional industry in the future.
