× This research was carried out with the aim of analyzing the positive politeness strategies in the conversations of the protagonist and antagonist characters in the film Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. Analysis of the social context was also carried out to describe how characters used positive politeness strategies in each stage of the movie. Brown and Levinson's theory of positive politeness strategies is used as the theoretical basis for this research. The location of this research is in the form of a movie The data source in this research is the transcript of a movie entitled Puss in Boots: The Last Wish which was released in 2022. The data source used is the transcript of the movie. This research used qualitative research methods and pragmatic approach. The data collection technique in this research is document study of the transcript of the movie. Based on the analysis that has been carried out, of the 15 positive politeness strategies, all strategies were found in the film. Strategy 4 or using in-group identify markers was the most frequently found strategy. The stages in the film (orientation, complication, evaluation, and resolution) were a thing that influenced the amount of positive politeness strategies. Then, other factors that influenced the use of positive politeness strategies by characters in the movie are payoff and relevant circumstances. Payoff is used by convincing the listener that the speaker has the same goal as the hearer and aimed to fulfill the hearer's wishes. This minimized the risk of FTA (Face Threatening Acts) which can cause a threat to the hearer's positive face. Then, relevant circumstances consisting of relative power (P) and social distance (D) also influenced the use of positive politeness strategies by characters in the movie because the relationship and distance between characters are different, in the case of this movie, each character already knew each other, and the distance of the characters were not too far. With this it can be said that the stage of the movie and the social context can influence the use of positive politeness strategies by the protagonist and antagonist characters in the movie.
